What is Diadem Pickleball Complex?

Diadem is a racket sports brand known for its pickleball and tennis gear. Its first indoor pickleball complex opened in Coconut Creek in Broward County, and the brand is expanding through license agreements with new complexes planned around Florida, including Jensen Beach, Sanford, Palmetto Bay, Panama City, Jacksonville and Tampa. Wellington is one of the first to be announced.

The Wellington complex is run by owner Simon Velasquez. He told Business Debut he looked at sites across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties and chose Wellington because it had a strong location and very few dedicated indoor pickleball facilities.

The courts and amenities

  • 11 indoor courts, fully air-conditioned, according to the Town-Crier. No more rainouts or 95-degree afternoons.
  • Pickleball simulators for practice and drills.
  • A golf simulator, so non-pickleball players have something to do too.
  • A pro shop stocked with Diadem paddles, balls and gear.
  • Space for tournaments, leagues, corporate events and private parties.

Cat 5 restaurant and bar

The complex will include a restaurant and bar called Cat 5, serving pizza made with dough imported from Italy, salads, beer, wine and soft drinks. Business Debut reported it will seat about 48 people, including 11 or 12 at the bar, and will serve players on the courts, so you can order between games.

When does Diadem open in Wellington?

An official opening date hasn't been announced. In May 2026, Business Debut reported the owner was targeting September 15, and in September the Town-Crier still described the complex as coming soon. In comments on a local real estate agent's Instagram post about the project, an account connected to the project said it's opening in November 2026. We'll update this page when Diadem confirms a date. Membership and court rental prices haven't been announced yet either.

Where to play pickleball in Wellington right now

  • Greenbriar Park: The Village opened six dedicated outdoor pickleball courts here in November 2024, in the southwest part of Wellington near Pierson Road. They're free, first come, first served, from sunrise to sunset.
  • Village Park, 11700 Pierson Rd: Wellington's big athletics complex has hosted public pickleball play.
  • Diadem Coconut Creek: If you can't wait for indoor play, Diadem's original complex in Broward County is about an hour's drive south.

Check the Village of Wellington's parks and recreation pages for current open play times and leagues.

Why Wellington is a pickleball town

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in South Florida, and Wellington's mix of families, retirees and seasonal residents makes for a big player base. Outdoor courts here fill up early on winter mornings, while summer heat and daily storms push many players indoors or off the courts entirely. An 11-court indoor facility with food and drinks on site fills a gap the village hasn't had before.

Plan a day around it: Diadem is a short drive from The Mall at Wellington Green, home to the new Palm Beach Improv and Copper Blues. For more ideas, see our guide to things to do in Wellington.
